Choose for your next tasks
Start with a tarp save point and scout before committing to a large build. Consider water access, wood, nearby equipment routes and entrances you can defend. There is no supported single best site for every play style and difficulty.
Compare the main options
| Area | Why consider it | Trade-off to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Waterfall lake south of Maintenance A | Nearby freshwater and western exploration routes; wooded area for materials | Scout enemy activity and defensible paths before expanding. |
| Northeastern golf course | Flat ground and nearby ponds for a larger layout | Farther from the early western tool chain. |
| Northern beach | Open sightlines and an early alternative | Assess timber transport and actual freshwater access. |
| Lake island | Water limits some land approaches in warmer conditions | Frozen winter water can allow enemies to walk across. |
The 1.0-era location guide reports that the waterfall lake does not freeze in winter. Treat this as the reported site behaviour, rather than proof that every lake stays open or every raw water source is safe to drink.
Prepare for winter
Water isolation is seasonal. Do not plan an island base’s defence on the assumption that summer conditions last all year. Snow also makes sticks and stones harder to spot, so stock materials and arrange a usable water supply in advance.
Use accessible approaches to plan walls, escape space and defensive positions. Water-side construction does not replace checking enemy routes.
Scout before deciding
Visit during your current progression, place a save point and evaluate the supplies and routes you actually use. These recommendations were not tested with equal-duration raid comparisons or a recent terrain build, and do not promise zero attacks.
