A surface pickup with no tool gate
Maintenance A is a geographic reference, not an entry requirement. Head towards the Abandoned Camp southwest of it on the western side of the island. You do not need to dig the bunker first.
Use visible landmarks
If you have not collected the cliff-side Flashlight locator, its purple GPS marker west of the mountains can serve as an approach reference. From nearby, follow the river and paths towards the group of tents. The older detailed description places the camp between the riverside cave and nearby bunker area.
In 1.0-era map behaviour, green bunker markers need discovery. Do not use a green dot that has not appeared as your only navigation instruction.
Confirm the pickup
Search around the central tent for the dead camper with an axe embedded in the body. Interact to collect it, then confirm Modern Axe in the inventory. Reaching the purple locator is not the same as reaching the axe.
If you already took the Flashlight locator, that purple marker may no longer be available. Use the river, tent group and camp’s position southwest of Maintenance A instead.
